How Do You Feel That Pope John Paul Ii Could Be Proclaimed As A Saint?

What is your opinion on this one? He’s the only Pope that I felt an aura of holiness in him when he was alive and I don’t know why I cried when he died and felt so much love for him even though haven’t known and met him personally.

Loosely put, a saint is someone who enters the gates of heaven. Therefore, sainthood should be everyone’s concern. However, the Catholic Church have canonized certain saints to show that their lives are worthy emulating. To be canonized as a saint is like passing through the eye of a needle, there lives are thoroughly reviewed, deliberated and documented. That is why in the past it took years if not centuries for one to be canonized as a saint.
With the advent of new information technology, however, and without sacrificing the integrity of the cause for canonization, nowadays the process has somehow been hastened. Maybe it’s a little known fact that Pope John Paul II during his time has canonized more saints than in all the terms of all previous popes combined.
So to have him canonized in this lifetime may not be that far-fetched. Actually, there are two people who was good candidates for that, John Paul II and Mother Teresa.
For those of us who believe, however, we are almost quite sure having known the man that he now sits in heaven. Just as probably, we would believe if their is a father or mother who sacrificed a lot for us, we’re almost sure that when they die they go to heaven.
The earthly recognition of being a canonized saint matters less than that. In fact, I don’t Pope John Paul II would mind if take years or never even if his cause for canonization does not progress. He’s just happy he has done his job here on earth well. That’s what matters and that is what truly makes him a saint.

He can’t be a saint in our lifetime – usually the church does not recognize the actions of a person up for the right to be a saint (not the technical term but I cant think right now) until around 70 to 100 years after they’re death. It will be talked about for years to come I’m sure. But in my opinion him and mother theresa should be saints, hopefully in my lifetime, but probably not.

…what’s a saint…? I’ve searched the Scriptures and I can’t find a Scriptural reference for “saint”…? Is this some sort of “religious grading system” orchestrated by the Roman Church…? does someone keep a “score card” on my life (here on earth) and “judge” me before God…? Please, help us common, garden-variety “believers” in God to understand all this…

One human being proclaiming another human being as a saint is UN-biblical. Only Christ Jesus has the authority to do that. As one repents and receives Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, he is born anew and is sealed with the Holy Spirit and instantly becomes a saint by the cleansing of the blood of Jesus. Jesus has done it all. That way no one can boast.Only praise and thank
Jesus.

If you gotta make a Pope a saint, John Paul II would be the one. I felt like he was the most benvolent and trustworthy among all of them, including the present one. Ben scares me a little.

Canonized, not proclaimed. There were many good things about JP2, particularly his creating Mercy Sunday and going toe-to-toe with Clinton, Castro, and the Soviet Union. Unfortunately, he also alienated Traditionalist Catholics who held to the old Tridentine Mass. His claiming us to be schismatic when there was no true schismatic act did great harm to the Catholic Church. He also refused to investigate and defrock pedophile and homosexual priests because the Communists in Poland used defamation as a weapon against political enemies. Sadly, we still have homos and pedophiles in the Catholic Church and they need to be gotten rid of.

There is a good case for it. Pope John Paul survived an assassination by a Muslim extremist, he visited the man in jail and forgave him. This prompted the radical Muslim to have a change of heart and of faith, he converted to Christianity. This could qualify as dual miracle. (1) How many attacks by Muslim radicals end up not killing anyone? (2) How many radical Islamic convert to Christianity? Clearly a higher power at work.
There were only 2 other people of the past century deserving of sainthood: Mother Teresa and Ronald Reagan.

Politics as usual.
Get the masses stirred up with some positive nod to the Vatican. Try to recoup the losses suffered when all the priests got busted for molesting children.
