No.
The Pope’s pilgrimage to Jordan, Israel and the Palestinian territories has for four main goals:
+ Go to the sites that Jesus visited
+ Pray for “the precious gift of unity and peace for the Middle East and all of humanity.”
+ A pastoral journey to the Catholic Church in the areas with its various ritual expressions (Latin, Armenian Catholic, Syrian Catholic, Chaldean).
+ A journey of inter-religious dialog with both Jews and Muslims.

About the HIV/AIDS problem the Catholic Pope is quoted as saying “You can’t resolve it with the distribution of condoms. On the contrary, it increases the problem.”
The Pope as well as the Catholic church are known for being against premarital sex and all “artificial” forms of pregnancy prevention.
A second question could be, “Does the Pope only think that because of his religious affiliation and beliefs?” or “Did the Pope only say that to promote Catholic ideas?”
According to the Pope, if you give condoms to men with aids and tell them how to use them, they’re going to spread aids not keep from spreading aids. Even though research has shown that you’re less likely to get HIV/AIDS from having sex when a condom is used.
Please do not attack me or the Pope. I’m not Catholic (in fact, I’m a Unitarian Universalist), but I know the Pope has a lot of influence over people. Because of his influence, by saying that, he may get less people to use condoms, which could cause more people to get aids.
I like what Rebecca Hodes said, “… his opposition to condoms conveys that religious dogma is more important to him than the lives of Africans”
You can read about that at http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/18/world/…
Is the Catholic Pope or Ms Hodes right? (Actually, they both could be right…) Please back up your answer with facts, research, or non wikipedia links.
Thank you. I will select the answer that is the most informative as the best answer even if I do not agree with it. So, please try to be informative and not attack anyone.

“Vicar” means substitute.
Jesus Christ has no substitute.
“On this rock” is Jesus Christ speaking of Himself NOT of Peter. It is the proclamation of Jesus Christ as God the Son, both Saviour and Lord upon which the church is built.
Jesus Christ is the Chief Cornerstone.

Why does Pope Benedict XVI state that Jews no longer have to convert to be saved? He states that the covanent with the Jews is still valid, that they don’t have to acknowledge Jesus Christ as the promised messiah, that the Jews don’t need Christ for salvation, and are not excluded from salvation. Isn’t this heresy?

Roman Catholic Church continues to pronounce a curse to hell “anathema” upon those who would reject the authority of the Pope.
The Scripture reserves that curse for those who would teach a different gospel (Galatians 1:8-9).
The Bible says of Jesus that there is no other name by which men can be saved (Acts 4:12).
It is therefore blasphemy to ascribe to the Pope the title of “vicar of Christ.”
